Restaurant Review - Mr Chu Norwood Adelaide and I need to talk about Social Media.
Hi Everyone,
This morning I had breakfast at a cafe’ on The Parade in Norwood called Mr Chu.
The menu looked pretty good with a good assortment of brunch choices and also quite a few Asian style meals.
I decided on a Mushroom Truffle:
sautéed mix mushrooms and truffles, poached eggs, pecorino cheese, hint of maple on brioche
The mushrooms and truffle tasted good, the eggs were perfect however really you couldn’t taste the truffles and the pecorino cheese because there was too much maple syrup and the brioche made the overall flavour profile too sweet.
Not a great fan of these sweet/savoury meals and I think it would have been better with a slice of sour dough and some sautéed spinach on the top. Sometimes simple is best.
But that’s my opinion and the café is quite nice, the coffee is good and the service is friendly although they should carry some sugars around with them and the sugar in the sachets was hard because some moisture had got to them but lets face it - so what!
Anyway it’s a nice place - is it the best place on The Parade in Norwood? - In my opinion no but I’d eat there again for sure - I think I’d try an Asian meal next time.

I’ve got a bit to say about Social Media too. The reason why I started this newsletter is for years I have been writing on and off on Facebook and Twitter taking photos on Instagram.
Over the years I’ve built up a following - almost 20,000 people follow me on Twitter but what’s the point of having these followers if nobody sees what you’re writing.
Yesterday, I post a message on Twitter and only 94/19300 people get to see the post and one person looks at my profile. At that rate I would need to post 205 times before each of my Twitter followers get the chance to read it or ignore it. What a massive waste of time.
What is the point of participating if Twitter decide that nobody will see your posts.
Anyway, that’s what has drawn me to Substack at least you get the ability to read my posts or ignore them instead of not getting the choice because Twitter decides who receives a post.
If you like what I have to say, follow my newsletter I’ll be talking about food and travelling and anything else that seems topical at the time.
